Types of Protectors. Water, SolventImpregnating Sealers.

Water Based basic depending on the brand, application and use can last 6-12 months and repel water based spills.

Solent Based is the into to professional sealers. They protect against water and oil based spills and will absorb more around the surface then will water based sealers.

Impregnating Sealers are also solvent based but with much"solids" meaning they best absorption of the three and have the longest lasting at 1-3 years but are used most of the time in natural stones or Tile & Grout.

1. Do protectors make the carpet re-soil more quickly?

No, quite the opposite the protector acts as a barrier that doesn't allow loose dirt and grime to attach to the fiber and thus being able to be removed with regular vacuuming.

2. Do protectors stop or slow "wear patters" on the carpet? (Traffic Lane Grey)

Yes, but lets understand what cause the carpet to look old and worn out. All Carpet fibers are clear with some color(dye) added. When the carpet isn't vacuumed on a regular basis dirt/sand start to scratch the outside making it unable to reflect light. Protectors at as a clear coating that takes all the abuse of your daily routine of life whether it is for Carpet, Upholstery or Tile & Grout.

Last keep in mind every time you step on an unprotected surface you are slowly scratching/wearing that surface. There is only so much damage it can take before needing cleaning and protecting again.
