ATLAS FLOOR CARE UPHOLSTERY CLEANING PROCESS

STEP 1. PROJECT WALKTHROUGH.

We start each project by walking the areas needing to be cleaned with the client. This gives us an opportunity to determine the precise solution for your unique cleaning need, as well as go over any areas that you feel need specific attention (pet mishaps, odors, staining, etc). By walking the project with you, we are able to address any concerns, as well as establish expectations for the project's completion.

STEP 2. PROTECTING AREAS THAT AREN'T BEING CLEANED.

Oftentimes, the items or areas that need cleaning are surrounded by surfaces that can get damaged if left unprotected. Whether it's the use of moving blankets to cover an entryway or specific surface, or corner guards that protect paint and trim from our vacuum hoses. Have a couch or item that needs to be moved in order to clean? Rest assured that, by using professional grade furniture sliders, your wood or stone floors won't be scratched in the process of cleaning.

STEP 3. VACUUMING.

One of the most important steps in the furniture cleaning process that oftentimes gets overlooked by bargain priced cleaners as well as some homeowners. Vacuuming with professional grade cleaning equipment, prior to preconditioning the furniture's fabric, can remove up to 70% of dry soil trapped in the small nooks and crevices of your couch or favorite recliner.

STEP 4. SPOTTING/PRE-CONDITIONING.

Once your sectional sofa or love seat has been prepped for cleaning, we inspect for any specific areas of need (gum, ink, coffee, pet stains/odors, etc) before moving to on to treating the entire cleaning surface with our ECO-based pre-spray conditioner. Our pre-sprays are safe for pets as well as children and are specifically designed to breakdown built up dirt and grime, in a safe way, as we prepare to remove these emulsified debris using our truck-mounted, hot water extraction method.

STEP 5. AGITATION.

We utilize mechanical or hand agitation, depending on your furniture's fabric needs, to help work in our pre-spray conditioner as well as break up any stubborn areas of built up dirt and grime, that need additional care and attention. Once our conditioner has begun to emulsify the remaining debris, we can turn our attention to removing the debris with our truck-mounted, hot water extraction method.

STEP 6. STEAM RINSING.

Most cleaning agents (pre-spray, spotters, etc.) leave residue on the furniture fiber if not properly neutralized after cleaning, a step often overlooked by bargain cleaners. This residue tends to attract new dirt/debris and causes newly cleaned items to become dirty quicker. We utilize an acid rinse that gently removes any leftover cleaning agents, as well as brings your fabric's pH back into balance, leaving a soft, clean surface without any unwanted crunchy or sticky feel.

STEP 7. DRYING/PROTECTANT.

Upon completion of the cleaning process, we use fans to speed up the drying process. Most upholstery surfaces will feel dry to the touch in as little as 1-2 hours, but may need more time to be dry enough to sit on. We recommend giving your fabric a full 6-8 hours of dry time before laying the cushions back down. Humidity and other factors can affect dry times and we will consult your specific situation at the time of cleaning. Have pets or small children or really light colored furniture fabric? Talk to us about the benefits of utilizing a solvent based protectant, designed specifically for furniture fabrics that is safe to come into contact with our skin, but strong enough to help protect against future spills or oops moments, to keep your furniture looking cleaner for longer.
